Martí Guixé, a conceptual and unconventional design visionary, wished to revive the magic of classic Kerman rugs, breathing new life into the mythical pictorial motifs of birds, flowers, horses, and deer that appear and disappear… like ghosts. A faithful rendition of the extraordinary simplicity and gravity to be found in this artist’s work.
The Ghost rug combines shadows of black and white, a mysterious blend of past and present. The busy design and color saturation of the pattern offer a contemporary twist on this traditional rug style, drawing you into the exuberance of the scene, so timeless and yet so fresh.
“I created a small part of the design every day, sometimes painting by day, sometimes by night… The graphic arrhythmias reflect my different moods over the course of three months it took me to complete the design, adding a mystical element to the Ghost rug.” Martí Guixé.
